My husband and I went to dinner Saturday night and ordered a bottle of wine. As the sommelier described the selections I noticed how the vocabulary for describing wine is very similar to the way we define a fine fragrance. It got me to thinking – since it’s a common practice to pair wine with dinner why not go one step further and find the perfect fragrance to enjoy with your wine and entrée? Read on for my aroma-flavored decorating suggestions.

Chardonnay has been called the gateway wine as it can please both beginner and sophisticated palates. Interestingly, many of the adjectives used to describe a good Chardonnay apply to a vanilla fragrance description – complex, rich, buttery, exotic. Channel your inner child, Julia Child that is. Get the coq au vin stewing in the pot, pour a chilled glass of Chardonnay and light a Vanilla Golden Leaf candle on the kitchen counter.

Verdant, rocky cliffs overgrown with juniper, cypress and olive trees – bring in the Mediterranean landscape and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Enjoy an olive and cheese appetizer tray with a Mediterranean Coast candle on the patio. Bellissimo!

Light the fireplace, put on your favorite pair of slippers and crack open a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Referred to as “the king of red wines” cabernets often contain hints of vanilla, tobacco and leather aromas and flavors. Hmmm…a cabernet sounds a lot like a Honey Tobacco candle. Bring on the steak and indulge in a romantic setting for two, three, four.

A fragrant stroll through a garden overgrown with jasmine, ivy and nasturtium. Prosecco is Italy’s version of champagne; it’s sparkling wine and just as delicious and bubbly as it’s more expensive counterpart. The perfect brunch is a glass of Prosecco with a Petal and Vine candle centerpiece in the middle of a display of pretty cakes and tasty treats.

You get the idea. Take your senses on a whole experience with great wine, good food and a gorgeous Botanical Candle centerpiece.

Rosewood & Red Berries Botanical Candle & Soy Tin

Last Friday a blizzard dumped almost a foot of snow on my doorstep. I was feeling rather pleased with my exemplary shoveling when a follow up storm deposited 3 more inches of snow. It’s cold. When I open the door to let my two little dogs outside they turn heel and make a beeline for the couch. Unfortunately nature does call and they’ve been forced to brave snowdrifts to find a private repository. Of course this frosty weather is candle burning time, and I’ve fallen head over heels with our Rosewood & Red Berries fragrance. Rosewood & Red Berries is a unique and unexpected pairing of juicy red berries with rosewood and oak; cassis bursts in and adds a tart kick. Originally intended as a holiday scent this fragrance is a year-round delight. Try Rosewood & Red Berries and find respite from the wintertime blues.
