Gorgeous and ethereal gingko trees are an inspiring sight spring through fall. Did you know some gingko trees are guesstimated to be more than 2500 years old? Wow! Their leaves start out with the perfectly bright green hue and turn to a warm golden yellow as the seasons progress. We pay tribute to gingko trees in many of our products. Rosy Rings is working with the YouthEntity group in Carbondale, Colorado to create a Botanical Candle for their fundraising project. YouthEntity is a community and youth empowerment initiative dedicated to helping youth succeed, no matter what they want to do when they grow up. Their goal is to engage and empower youth to discover their potential by providing real-world educational experiences.

Four members of YouthEntity – Katie, Lily, Brooke & Libby (pictured from left to right) have been busy developing their Botanical Candle. They’ve done market research on fragrances, selected a color palette – soft greens, pinks and white and designed a custom label. Of course no business venture would be complete without some number crunching too. Finally, they will also be responsible for selling their custom candle. The girls have been working with fragrance consultant and my friend, Lara Woodman Claassen, to select the perfect scent for their candle. After extensive market research and much deliberation they chose a truly lovely fragrance: Cucumber Lily is luminous blend of fresh cucumber and green melon delicately wrapped with lily blossoms, rose petals and gently underlined with a hint of sparkling lemongrass and bamboo leaves. The perfect fragrance for warm weather, yet certain to brighten a cold, gray day as well!

Whenever I hit the East Coast I rent a car and make a very special detour to Terrain – one of my favorite stores and a fine purveyor of Rosy Rings products. Meditative isn’t a word that comes to mind often when describing a shopping experience but that’s how I feel when I’m in Terrain. On site is a large, gorgeously landscaped nursery, a yummy organic restaurant and a tranquil garden-themed store. The open air store offers organic body care, garden items, gourmet foods, plants, terrariums and more. They faithfully carry Rosy Rings Votives and our Apothecary Jar candles. Exotic lights and vintage finds abound too. If you’re searching for inspiration for your garden or your home you must visit! I snapped a few photos at the store.
